It’s Maple Syrup Time at Beaver Lake Nature Center
Thursday, February 29, 2024
It's Maple Syrup Time throughout the month of March at Beaver Lake Nature Center! On the first four Saturdays during the month of March (March 2, 9, 16 & 23), visitors will have the opportunity to tour Beaver Lake’s demonstration Sugarbush – a term for a forest stand of sugar maple trees. Beaver Lake’s naturalists will introduce the public to how maple syrup is made, the science behind the sap that flows from maple trees, and the heritage of maple sugaring. Tours are self-paced and available from 10am to 1pm and are free with park admission, $5 per vehicle.
Visitors to Beaver Lake Nature Center during the maple season can also enjoy a hearty Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Friends of Beaver Lake, before or after visiting the sugarbush. The popular pancake breakfast includes sausage and a beverage, with an option to top off your pancakes with local maple syrup. Depending on appetite, breakfast ranges from $3 to $7. Pancake breakfasts are held the first four Saturdays in March from 9am to 12pm. In addition, the Beaver Lodge Gift Shop will be stocked with a wide variety of maple products for purchase. Proceeds benefit The Friends of Beaver Lake, a non-profit group that supports the Nature Center’s mission.
