Bike Share Program Comes to Onondaga Lake Park

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Central New York's most popular park, Onondaga Lake Park, has added a new Bike Share program to its selection of activities available to residents and visitors. This latest addition allows users easy bike rental access via their smartphone. Riders simply download the 'Cuse Cycle App, pay for the ride using a credit card, unlock a bike and hit the trails.

"We are excited to bring this innovative program to our community and can't think of a better place to launch it than on our seven miles of picturesque, waterfront trails around Onondaga Lake," remarked County Executive Joanie Mahoney.

The park's rental shop, McKie Sports 'Cuse Cycle, has 15 bright white and orange bikes docked at three different locations in the park. The bikes will be available to rent during park hours near the Salt Museum, Willow Bay and the West Shore Trail parking lot off of Long Branch Road through the end of October. Users may ride on any of the parks paved trails, return the bike to any of the three locations and must provide their own helmet.  Rental rates begin at $10 per hour for a single use. Rental plans are also  available by the day, week or year. The 'Cuse Cycle App is available for iOS and Android devices.
