Responsible dog owners are welcome in Onondaga County Parks. Please follow a few regulations to help keep the park clean and safe for everyone. Local Law #2 restricts animal access in Onondaga County Parks to dogs on 6' leashes and horses on bridle paths.
- Dogs must be controlled by their owners at all times.
- Dogs must be leashed (not longer than six feet) at all times.
- Skating/biking with your pet is not allowed.
- Pets are not allowed at athletic fields, playgrounds,
beaches or in buildings.
- Owners must clean up after their pets. Clean-up mitts and waste stations are located throughout the parks for your convenience.
- Dogs
must be licensed and have a current rabies shot as required by New
York State Law. The person
accompanying the dog must have proof of rabies vaccination with them. Vaccines for other communicable dog diseases such as distemper are strongly recommended but not required.
- Pets are not allowed at special events.
- In Onondaga Lake Park, pets are not permitted on the East Shore Trail
(wheels only). Dogs are allowed on the Shoreline Walking Trail. Pets
are not permitted to ride the Wegmans Tram.
- Pets are not allowed at specialized Onondaga County Park venues
including Rosamond Gifford
Zoo at Burnet Park and Beaver Lake Nature Center.
