Dave Mirra at the Skatepark!
Latest Dave Mirra sighting - July 25, 2007 -- Local celebrity and professional BMX rider Dave Mirra paid a visit to the Onondaga Lake Skatepark doing flips and tricks for nearly two hours.
On Thursday, April 29, 2004 a blast of fabulous spring weather brought numerous visitors to Onondaga Lake Park. One of those visitors was, Dave Mirra, one of the world's top professional BMX freestyle riders and host of the MTV show "Inferno". Dave enjoyed some time alongside other users for about an hour. He liked the park though the opportunity for a "Big-Air" did not reveal itself. Dave was also pleased that the Central New York area, where he grew up in close-by Chittenango, finally had a park for everyone to use.
Designing the Skatepark
More than 100 youths and adults took part in designing it while 26 students from Junior Achievement developed the regulations, operations and finances. About 100 Skatepark enthusiasts arrived for opening day. Before they began their fun, they had to have a signed waiver.
