Onondaga Lake Park Shore Stabilization Project

Monday, August 21, 2017

Beginning on Monday, August 21, the section of the Shoreline Walking Trail that runs behind the Salt Museum to the Lakeside Ballfield at Onondaga Lake Park, will be closed for three weeks due to a shoreline stabilization project. The closure will allow heavy equipment access to the stretch of Onondaga Lake shoreline in this area to provide structural integrity to the shore of Onondaga Lake, and prevent further erosion of Onondaga Lake Park land during periods of seasonal flooding.

This closure will remain in effect 24-hours a day, through Friday, September 8.  The public is asked to refrain from entering this work zone during the construction period.  Further, the Overlook parking lot (adjacent to the Lakeside Softball Field/Bloody Brook at Onondaga Lake Park) will be closed to public parking during this timeframe.

Only the trail itself, and the land between the trail and water's edge will be inaccessible.  The closure does not impact the public's use of the softball fields, Wegmans Playground or the rest of Onondaga Lake Park.

For further information regarding this project, call Onondaga Lake Park at (315) 453-6712 or visit OnondagaCountyParks.com.
