Trail Extension will go from the State Fairgrounds to the Syracuse Creekwalk

Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney today announced that the community is invited to attend a public informational meeting to discuss the next phase of the Onondaga Lake Trail system.

“We are continuing our plans to loop Onondaga Lake and beginning the next phase, which will go from the State Fairgrounds to the Syracuse Creekwalk”, said Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney. “This meeting will provide a forum for the public to be briefed and provide feedback on the project before the best way to extend the trail is chosen.”

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held April 8, 2014 from 6:30 - 8:30PM in the DestinyUSA’s Skydeck, which is located on the 6th floor. Attendees can expect a presentation describing the various options extending the Onondaga Loop the Lake trail system along the southwestern section of the lake and connecting it to the Syracuse Creekwalk.

Once a preferred trail route has been determined, schematic plans and cost estimates for future funding of the trails construction will be prepared.
